Nancy Spaulding has enjoyed creating paintings with pastel since year 2001. She enjoys the versatility of pastel and the spontaneous approach this medium allows her, not to mention the fact that traditional dry pastel is the purist form of pigment that an artist can work with. Nature, landscape and her garden remain her favorite subjects but she finds the excitement of finding new material is always creatively stimulating.

Bluebird and Garry Oak Spring, 28x38, $2500
This pastel was created to benefit efforts in reestablishing the Western Bluebird to the San Juan Islands and restoring habitat. Hopefully it will prove helpful. I will miss having it on my easel.
